Pre-Pharmacy​

     The Pre-Pharmacy Program provides students with the necessary skills to become certification eligible as a pharmacy technician. Instructional content focuses on basic medical terminology, healthcare delivery systems, career exploration, law and ethics, and health maintenance practices. Students also study pharmacy operations, medication uses, filling prescriptions, along with HIPAA and privacy rules. 

Instructor Andrea Willey-Anderson

Mrs. Anderson has provided nursing care in the surrounding rural communities for 36 years. Her background includes clinical nursing, home health nursing, care coordination for the aged and disabled, and high risk infants and pregnant women. Her experience includes clinical instructor at New River Community and Technical College School of Practical Nursing, and most recently employed at Fayette County Head Start as the Early Head Start Nurse for 12 years.  
 
She feels fortunate to have chosen her career pathway in nursing and hopes to inspire her students to choose a career in healthcare.

HOSA

     HOSA is a student led organization designed around healthcare careers. Students are encouraged to participate in local, state, and International Competitive events. This allows students to further develop leadership qualities and to network with other healthcare professionals. 

The Clinical Internship

  • 120 hours required within a real pharmacy
  • Submit to background check
  • Submit to a drug screen
  • Register with the Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician in Training
